The State of Bihar,a multi-disaster prone state,is predominantly rural in character.The geo-
climatic conditions of Bihar make it vulnerable to many hazards.The lives and livelihood of
millions of millions of the people residing in Bihar gets affected by various disasters from
time to time.
The State witness various types of natural and human induced disasters, like Floods, Drought, Earthquake, Fire, Cyclonic storm, Road accidents, Stampede, Epidemics, Heat
Waves, Cold Waves etc.In addition to natural disasters,human induced disasters also pose
serious challenges to the people of Bihar.Environment and climate change issues have been
at the centre of disasters with increased frequency of extreme weather conditions ,thus
requiring an eco-sensitive approach to deal with them.
With a paradigm-shift from post-disaster efforts to pre-disaster initiatives; better
institutional arrangements and increased awareness and preparations, the State is moving
towards disaster resilience and emerging as a leader in the field of disaster risk reduction
and management.
In the pursuit of institutionalizing, mitigation and prepared to natural as well man made
disasters more efficiently, Bihar State Disaster Management Authority places emphasis on
development and organization of comprehensive Online database.
Bihar State Disaster Resource Network(BSDRN) is an effort in this direction. BSDRN is also
mandate in DRR Road map for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-30), approved by cabinet.
The BSDRN is essentially to serve as a state repository of database for emergency/disaster management and to assist the stakeholders/Administration at various levels in preparedness and emergency situation. Data available at appropriate scales to emergency response managers at all levels.
Bihar State Disaster Resource Network is a web based platform for managing the inventory of equipment, skilled human resources and critical supplies for emergency response. Primary focus of the portal is to enable the decision makers to find information on availability of equipment and human resources required to combat any emergency situation. This database also enables managers to assess the level of preparedness for specific disasters. Main objective of BSDRN is to build up a systematic inventory of equipment and skilled human resources so that disaster managers easily can find the location and details of the resources for immediate and effective response within Golden hour for minimizing deaths.
The online inventory of resources is hosted in the bsdma website . Any one can have the access to upload data in the portal . Data is monitored and maintained at Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA).Besides BSDMA is responsible for the overall administration of the portal.
Bihar State Disaster Management Authority are the authorized officials to get the latest information about disaster management resources available with various line departments/agencies and uploaded in the portal.
